Danielle
Fortin, Children's Librarian
kidsread@worldpath.net
Danielle Fortin began working at the library in 1995. She is currently completing her Bachelor of Science in Library and Information Services at the University of Maine at Augusta. Danielle is a member of the American Library Association, the New Hampshire Library Association and Children’s Librarians of New Hampshire. She also belongs to several library list-serves including YALSA and NEWLIB, both lists that offer a connection to librarians all over the world.
Danielle
worked closely with Library Assistant Sarah Hebert to bring Northwood's
First Annual Edible Book
Festival to the town. They are extremely pleased with the
turnout, and can't wait to see what future years will bring.
Danielle also plans and implements the Summer Reading Program, Story Time, and various other programs
for children and youth.
Danielle
is currently very busy working with Lord Carpentry, David Burton and
the students in David's Art class on the new Youth Area redesign.
(You can see what's going on over at the Children's
Page.) The design that we have chosen to go with was
conceptualized by Danielle and former Library Assistant Sarah
Hebert. Together they measured the Youth Area (sometimes more
than once!) and came up with a design that will use the space we have
while at the same time increasing the amount of shelving available and
creating some much needed seating. The shelves will have murals
painted on the flat surface above the new seating. The murals are
being created by local artist David Burton and by Shawn Myers. To
see their rough sketches visit the library and check out the bulletin
board in the Youth Area!
